Before you do a self-hypnosis exercise, please take a moment to read these instructions:

- Make sure you feel comfortable, rested, and alert
- Never do a self-hypnosis exercise while driving or doing other activities that require your full attention
- Make sure you are alone and undisturbed during the exercise. Consider possible disturbances from cell phone/telephone, doorbell, pets, or family members
- Take a relaxed position – I recommend sitting rather than lying down
- If available, use headphones – the experience is more intense when you perceive the voice close to your ears
- Contraindications for hypnosis also apply to self-hypnosis: please do not do any of these exercises if you suffer from altered consciousness or severe mental limitations (due to certain drugs or medications, certain forms of dementia, or due to severe addiction problems)
- Do not put pressure on yourself during the exercises – it is not about success or ability! It is perfectly okay if you perceive something addressed in the exercise differently or not at all. There can be various reasons for this, just ask me about it
- Feel free to repeat the exercises more often, this trains your ability to focus on an inner event
